The starting point is the carpark at the end of Siracusa Court, Secret Harbour – NOT Becher Point.
Getting there using public transport
The best way to get using public transport is to take bus 561 from Warnbro train station, getting off at the bus stop on Secret Harbour Boulevard, just south of Siracusa Court. It’s a walk of around 450m down Siracusa Court (head north from the bus stop) to the carpark.
Turn around point
The turn around point is Becher Point
Getting back to the start from the turn around point – if you don’t want to do an out-and-back walk
Public transport is only available at the start of the route. If you don’t want to do the full out and back walk, you can continue walking along the beach once you get to Becher Point instead of turning back, for 1.5km until you get to Port Kennedy resort and get a taxi/Uber from there.
Summary of the walk
Figure 1 below shows the route. The one-way distance is 4.8km, making it a 9.6km out and back walk. However, as noted above, if you can continue walking along the beach once you get to Becher Point instead of turning back, after about 1.5km you get to Port Kennedy resort and get a taxi/Uber from there. This makes it a walk of 6.3km.
Water and toilets
There is a shower at the starting car-park, but no toilet. This is the only facility for this walk, although there is a toilet block in the main Secret Harbour car park, about a 300m walk south of the Siracusa Court along a path.
From the carpark at the end of Siracusa Court (Plate 1), walk to the beach and then head north. This is simply an out and back beach walk, which can be difficult when the sand is soft, especially in winter.
It’s a wilderness walk – see main photograph above.
